The Lymphatic Systems

“The Lymph” is a broad designation given to all Muses and Phages of a System that serve a Wraith (A living construct of Mana). It is more commonly used to describe followers of one of the five Phantasms (Astro, Livewire, Alkemus, Vaimear, or Mirror).

Historically, Muses and Phages were seen as bringers of social order that worked on behalf of the Phantasms that brought stability and technological progress to Elladion after the ecological collapse.

In the modern Mavve-Kechyo territory, the term is somewhat derogatory, meaning “cop” or something similarly derogatory in Kuanodict as the region’s populace became more independent.

This shift in tone is largely due to the fact Astro’s Lymphatic System – which was once responsible for maintaining law & order in Mavve-Kechyo (See L.O.C.) – shattered after the fall of the Atlantean Commune and went into hiding, which allowed the rise of vigilante subgroups whom quickly seized available power.

These vigilantes are often hired by local Settlements and behave not unlike a mafia, often fighting amongst themselves and integrating additional Phages into their ranks.

The few remaining members that are still honor-bound to Astro have become notorious in another way: for seizing Wounds as they emerge across Mavve-Kechyo. This restricts public access to Mana in favor of ManciCorp / The L.O.C., both a blessing and a curse as it protects residents from hostile wildlife and radiation while also preventing them from “homebrewing” new Phages to counter Vigilante Lymph Systems.

The Officially Recognized Lymphatic Systems Include:

Lymphocytes (The Immune System)

The first organized Phage System. Responsible for Law and Order. Led by Allycsastron (Astro).

In modern times, followers of the Lymphocytes have been deprecated and work instead under the L.O.C. as it’s imitation Legislative Ministry. Astro and their Phages effectively act as mere figureheads, with Zenith doing most of the more functional legwork.

Neutrocytes (The Reproductive System)

Responsible for Agricultural work in limited partnership with the L.O.C. Native to the capital Sanctuary of Islume in Amiiar-Maka. Led by the Phantasm named Mirror.

Have recently become more independent, making bold moves and taking over various Refinery Outposts.

Known for their secrecy and priceless Hydroponic / Vitroculture technology.

Display an almost medieval aesthetic mixed with “eco-punk”, unique to their contemporaries.

Mirror herself powers a reflective spire that lights the entirety of Islume’s Greenhouses as well as the Iron Crucible. Mirror has a strong desire to restore ancient life to Elladion through the cloning of extinct plants and animals. Has been trying to coax Archaeographers to trade their fossils for food, technology, and resources.

Monocytes (The Digestive System)

The Monocytes were responsible for Food Acquisition in partnership with the Commune. Was once led by Viamear, or more specifically, the company in charge of him and his slaughterhouse Chassis. The Monocytes recently collapsed and it’s duties were instead acquired by the Neutrocytes, who produce their own line of Indigo meat rations.

The group once maintained the main fishery on the edges of the Luago, and employed hundreds of workers to process Orchades meat.

Basocytes (The Integumentary System)

The Basosytes were responsible for Building work in partnership with the Commune. Alkemus, who formerly led the System, has since become a rogue Phantasm that wreaks havoc across the wasteland. It’s believed he went mad after his chassis pilot and close confidant passed away.

Many of those formerly involved with the Basocytes later joined the Archaeographers or the Alkemists.

Alkemus was one of Livewire’s closest siblings.

Sinocytes (The Nervous System)

The Sinocytes once assisted in powering the technology of Atlantis above-ground, and were the first to be buried in the collapse. They were led by Livewire.

Livewire is currently under the control -and have been “reprogrammed” by- the L.O.C., used to overcharge the computing systems of the Livewire Sanctuary as well as serve as an on-call AI to boost morale.
